Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry

Real Opportunities.
Real Capacity Development.
Real Enterprises.

The Chamber Business Academy transforms market opportunities identified by Kenya's National Chamber into enterprises that can capitalise on them by building capabilities to connect businesses with markets, partners, and capital.

Who We Are

The venture-building arm of Kenya's national chamber

The Chamber Business Academy (CBA) is the venture-building arm of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI). We strengthen the execution capacity of enterprises and SMEs through targeted capacity-building interventions.

We are more than just a training provider offering programs and courses in the hopes that they will be useful. We begin by identifying real, validated market opportunities. Then, we help strengthen existing businesses or create new enterprises, providing the necessary capacity intervention to seize these opportunities with a clear focus on achieving market outcomes.

The CBA Capacity Intervention

Five Capabilities Businesses Need to Win Opportunities

We go beyond training; we develop the full capabilities needed to access, deliver, and expand through real market opportunities.

01

Technical & Artisanal Skills Competency

Develop practical skills to consistently deliver products and services that meet buyer expectations. With hands-on training and quality control, businesses can effectively compete on quality and consistency.

02

Business Execution Development

Enhance the management and operational discipline needed for a sustainable business. Participants will gain tools and frameworks to transition from informal operations to scalable enterprises.

03

Technology Transfer and Adoption

Utilize digital tools, automation machinery, and technology to enhance productivity, lower costs, and broaden market reach. By providing practical implementation support, participants learn to directly apply technology for business growth.

04

Standards & Compliance

Develop the certifications, documentation, and compliance systems required to access larger and higher-value opportunities. Participants receive guidance on quality assurance, ESG requirements, and market-specific compliance pathways.

05

Networks & Aggregation

Connect with partners, mentors, financiers, buyers, and fellow enterprises to unlock opportunities that cannot be reached alone. Through aggregation models, strategic partnerships, and industry networks, participants gain access to greater scale and market influence.

Vision

A globally competitive Kenyan business community, continuously equipped with the capability, certification, networks, and market access to grow, trade, and scale with confidence.

Mission

To convert real market opportunities into a pipeline of resilient, scalable, market-ready, investment-ready enterprises by building the exact capability each opportunity demands.

Our Core Values

Opportunity FirstEvery programme begins with a real, validated market opportunity and not a generic curriculum.
Built by DoingCapability is proven through real artifacts, transactions, and demonstrated skills.
Inclusion by DesignDeliberate focus on the enterprises most often locked out of major opportunities and are crutical for national industrialization.
Partnership as PracticeRelationships are governed as living systems for systemic transformation.

The Engine

Opportunity In, Enterprise Out

CBA maps the opportunity forward from real demand and maps the outcome backward from a concrete result. A programme only exists once both are clear.

Stage 01

Uncover

KNCCI's network surfaces real, validated opportunities through avenues of co-industrialisation, contracts, export demand, value chains, and green finance.

"We don't invent demand. We find it where it already is."
Stage 02

Match

CBA builds a pipeline of enterprises positioned to capture each opportunity, aggregating multiple SMEs where scale is needed.

"A pipeline of businesses to fill the gap not a class of attendees."
Stage 03

Build

Hands-on,technical opportunity-specific capability building. Every enterprise leaves not only with a training certificate but also with a capability to create a product and delivers it to the intended market.

"Capability built for a specific opportunity, proven by doing."
Stage 04 & 05

Continuous Strengthening & Scale

Enterprises are engaged with buyers, markets, and financial pipelines in collaboration with existing KNCCI arms. It's important to note that this is not the end or a simple handover; capacity building is a continuous process. We remain involved with the enterprise as it grows, measuring long-term outcomes.

"A finished programme is the start of growth not the end of a course."

Pilot Thematic Opportunity Areas

We are developing targeted opportunity pipelines that connect businesses to markets, investment, technology, and strategic growth opportunities. These pilot areas focus on building the capabilities and ecosystems required for enterprises to compete, scale, and create economic value.
